Ep 87 - Part 1 - 'Your Best Year Yet' Live recording from my 2026 business planning event
Jan 19, 2026Episode Show Notes
The Power of the Pause
Before you dive headfirst into another busy year of growing your health business, I want to offer you something far more valuable than another to-do list: clarity.
Because the truth is, most people don’t stop to reflect.
They roll into January with fresh energy and bold intentions - but without really understanding what worked in their business last year… or why certain things didn’t. And without that understanding, it’s easy to repeat the same patterns, jump into shiny new projects, or drop things that were actually making progress.
So today, I’m inviting you to pause. To take a breath. To review and reflect on your business like the CEO you are - with purpose, honesty, and strategy.
This simple, powerful review tool is one I use with my Accelerate mastermind clients, and I call it the CEO Traffic Light Dashboard.
Step 1: Reflect on Your Offers
Grab a notepad and write down everything you sold - or tried to sell - last year.
Think:
- 1:1 consultations
- Packages
- Online courses or group programmes
- Memberships, ebooks, digital products
- Meal plans or templates
Now go through your list and colour-code each offer based on how it performed:
Green: It sold well, was profitable, enjoyable to deliver, and didn’t leave you drained.
Amber: It had potential, but something felt off. Maybe the messaging wasn’t clear, or it took too much time.
Red: It didn’t sell, or left you feeling flat, resentful, or burnt out. You dreaded delivering it.
Be objective here, it’s just about gathering data so you can make smarter decisions going forward.
Step 2: Reflect on Who You Tried To Sell Them To
Now, let’s look at your audiences and how people found you and your business last year.
Where were they:
- Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn
- Referrals such as other AHPs, GPs, consultants
- Collaborations or joint ventures with colleagues
- Website traffic
- Directories like Nutritionist Resource, The BDA Freelance Directory or BUPA
- Podcasts or PR mentions
- YouTube,
- Pinterest,
- AI recommendations like ChatGPT/Google Gemini
Colour code these too:
Green: These sources brought in new followers, subscribers, or clients. Felt easy, natural, or joyful.
Amber: Some traction, but inconsistent results. You might need more support or strategy to make it work.
Red: You showed up, worked hard… and heard nothing but crickets. These sources felt draining and didn’t convert.
Again, avoid judgement with this, we're just collecting the data.
Step 3: Reflect on Your Sales Mechanisms
What did you do or try to convert your audience into clients?
Make a list of all the sales methods you used. Examples include:
- Discovery calls
- Email campaigns
- Free masterclasses or workshops
- DM conversations
- Live Q&As or launch events
- Funnels
And rate each one:
Green: Converted well. Clients bought easily, it felt aligned.
Amber: Some promise, but could be optimised with tweaks.
Red: Took a lot of time and effort, but didn’t bring results.
Now, take a step back.
You’ve just created your own CEO dashboard - a one-page visual overview of what to stop, keep going with, and what needs to be optimised.
What To Do With Your Audit
This is where the magic happens.
- Reds: Let them go. These are draining your time and energy. No matter how much you invested, how much love and time and attention you’ve given them - they’re not working and so they don’t belong in your 2026 strategy.
- Ambers: These are your “maybes.” Some need support. Some need a revamp. Some might be reds in disguise. Be discerning - if the idea of spending time, effort and energy on them fills you with dread, make them red and let them go.
- Greens: These are your gold. Build your 2026 strategy around them. Wherever possible, try to combine your greens. A green offer with a green traffic source and a green sales method is the sweet spot. That’s where your business starts to feel easy, pleasurable, and sustainable.
What If Everything Feels Red?
You’re not doing anything wrong.
If your dashboard is a sea of red (or mostly amber) it doesn’t mean your business is a failure. It just means you’ve tried things but you havent found what works yet.
Business is all about testing, experimentation and discovering exactly what that sweet spot is between what people want, what you provide and what they’re willing to pay for.
You’ve done the hard work, you’ve gathered information and been objective doing so. And now you can choose to do something different.
This level of clarity leads to opportunity. Think of this as your starting point.
Reflection Prompts to Deepen This Work
Here are a few journal questions to help you uncover even more insights:
- What felt light, joyful, or exciting in my business last year?
- Where did I feel resistance or dread - and why?
- What would my business look like if I only focused on my greens this year?
Take your time. You don’t need all the answers today - but awareness is the first step toward meaningful change.
