Ep 92 - How to Train ChatGPT to Sound Like You
Feb 09, 2026
If you’ve ever opened ChatGPT full of hope, typed in a prompt about writing a post or an email… and then sighed heavily at the response, you’re just like many of us.
On paper, AI sounds like the answer to every overwhelmed business owner’s prayers. Faster content. Less mental load. Fewer late nights staring at a blinking cursor after clinic.
But in reality, most health professionals walk away thinking one of three things:
This doesn’t sound like me.
This feels vague and a bit robotic.
Or worse… I’m not sure this is even safe to use.
And here’s what I want you to hear straight away.
The problem isn’t ChatGPT.
It’s how you’ve been taught to use it.
Most people are using ChatGPT as a generic tool. What you actually need is a trained AI marketing assistant that understands your business, your voice, and the professional boundaries you have to work within.
Let me show you what that really means.
Why generic ChatGPT does not work for health professionals
If you are a dietitian, nutritionist, or regulated healthcare professional, you sit in a very specific category online.
You are not a lifestyle influencer with no scope of practice.
You are not a copywriter.
And you cannot afford to publish content that is vague, inaccurate, or ethically questionable.
Generic ChatGPT does not know this.
When you open a blank chat and ask it to write a post, it pulls from general patterns across the internet. Blog posts. Marketing fluff. Sometimes outdated or unreliable sources. Occasionally things that sound confident but are completely incorrect.
For a regulated professional, that is risky.
I noticed this very quickly when I first started experimenting with AI. I was spending just as long rewriting content as I would have spent writing it from scratch. And occasionally, I was spotting references that I would never have been comfortable publishing under my name.
That was my wake up call. AI needed rules. Context. Training.
Not just prompts.
The difference between using ChatGPT and creating a custom GPT
This is the part most people miss.
Using ChatGPT looks like this:
You open a chat, type a request, hope for the best, and then heavily edit the output.
Creating a custom GPT is completely different.
This means you are building a trained AI environment that understands:
- How you write and speak
- Who your ideal client is
- What your offers are
- What topics you can and cannot talk about
- What ethical and professional boundaries must never be crossed
Instead of asking it to guess, you teach it.
Think of it like onboarding a new team member. You would not hand them a laptop and say “good luck.” You would explain your role, your values, your standards, and how you do things in your business.
AI works the same way.
Step one: teach ChatGPT how you sound
The first stage of training ChatGPT for your business is linguistic analysis. In plain English, this is where AI learns how you communicate.
This is all about it sounding just like you, consistently.
You feed your AI examples of your writing and speaking. Emails. Social posts. Podcast transcripts. Even voice notes if you have them.
This allows the AI to notice patterns.
Your sentence length.
Your tone. Your humour. Your colloquialisms.
How direct or gentle you are.
How you explain things to your audience.
And if you are thinking, “But I don’t have loads of examples yet,” that is not a problem.
You can build your voice from the ground up using guided exercises that capture how you think, speak, and teach. I can show you how to do this.
The goal is not to sound like everyone else.
The goal is for AI to sound like you on a really good day.
Step two: set professional and ethical boundaries
This is the most important step for healthcare professionals.
Your AI needs rules.
It needs to know what is in your scope of practice and what is not.
It needs to know how to handle sensitive topics.
It needs to know when to avoid giving advice and when to signpost instead.
Generic ChatGPT does not have this context. A trained AI does.
This is what makes the difference between something that feels a bit clever and something that is actually safe to use in your business long term.
Step three: train ChatGPT on your business, not just your words
Once your AI understands how you sound, it needs to understand what you actually do.
This includes:
Your ideal client and their struggles
Your offers and how they work
Your values and positioning
How you want people to move through your content
This is where AI stops being a writing tool and starts becoming a marketing assistant.
When your AI knows your business model, it can write content that supports your goals instead of just filling space. Emails that lead somewhere. Posts that warm people up properly. Blogs that quietly sell without feeling salesy.
Step four: test, refine, and build trust
Training ChatGPT is not a one and done task.
Just like a real assistant, it gets better with feedback.
You test outputs.
You tweak instructions.
You refine tone.
Each round makes the AI more aligned with you.
And here is the part most people do not expect. Over time, you start to trust it.
That trust is what gives you time back. You stop hovering. You stop rewriting everything. You start using AI as support, not something you have to fix.
What this looks like in real life
In my own business, my AI marketing assistant helps me create:
Podcast show notes
SEO optimised blog posts
Email newsletters
Sales pages
Social captions
It even helps me reply to IG voicenotes when people enquire about working with me.
It knows my voice. It knows my audience. It knows the professional standards in dietetics.
And the result is not just time saved. It is better performance. Higher open rates. Better click throughs. More consistency without more effort.
That is what happens when AI is trained properly.
You do not need to be techy to do this
This is the part I really want to reassure you about.
Training ChatGPT for your business does not involve coding. There is no complex tech stack. No scary dashboards.
It all happens inside one platform, with the right guidance and structure.
If you can follow instructions and answer questions about your business, you can do this.
And once it is set up, it becomes one of the most supportive tools in your business. Quietly working in the background. Taking the repetitive load off your shoulders.

Episode transcription:
Welcome along. I'm going to start by saying something quite blunt. Most people are using AI tools like ChatGPT wrong. And that's why it never gives you the kind of responses that you actually want. If you're using ChatGPT or Claude for your business, but the outputs always sound too generic, not like you, and you end up just rewriting all of the content again yourself, then this episode today is for you.
And it's going to completely change how you use AI in your business going forward. I'm going to break down what most people are doing wrong with ChatGPT and I'll show you a completely different way to use it. Turning it into a marketing assistant that knows your business inside out, knows the industry that you work in and truly understands your profession.
So many people are sleeping on this. So I cannot wait to share it with you because it really is a game changer for your business. Today, we're going to unpack why most healthcare professionals are struggling with AI, why generic chat GPT often does not cut it and actually can be quite risky. And the exciting part, how to create your very own AI marketing assistant that's actually trained on your business.
So make sure you stay tuned right until the end of this episode, because I'm going to share the details about a hands-on workshop that I'm running in early March, where I literally walk you through how to build your own AI marketing assistant. It's practical guided training where I hold your hand and show you exactly how to set it up for you and your business. So if you've been using ChatGPT, but feel a bit disappointed or frustrated or unsure whether you should even be using it at all, then stay with me here because the way I'm going to show you how to use AI is probably very different to anything you've ever seen before.
Now, if you're listening to this, it's probably because you know the pain of DIY content creation all too well. Maybe it's that whenever you sit down to write your social media posts or your emails, it feels forced. It feels a bit unnatural. Maybe it's just that you have no idea you're actually doing when it comes to marketing your business.
Or maybe you're tired of having days where you finish up with client calls, respond to all your emails, and then remember you need to write a load of social media content with a completely fried brain. So if you're struggling with content creation, you've probably considered your options. Option one, do it yourself and spend your evenings writing posts and wonder if anyone will even read them. Option two, hire someone to do it for you.
Of course, if you're on a budget, this isn't really much of an option. And then option three, probably the most popular one, use ChatGPT or another AI tool as it is with super generic outputs, which means hello hours of editing. But what if there was another option? Well, actually there is. Option four is to create your own custom AI marketing assistant. In other words, properly and thoroughly training AI tools like ChatGPT on your business specifically. And what that means is there's no spending hours writing your own content, no hiring out and expensive monthly fees. It's like having a reliable, tireless team member who never sleeps. It might sound too good to be true, but I promise you it isn't.
Okay, let me be crystal clear here. There is a big difference between using ChatGPT as a generic tool and building a custom AI marketing assistant that's actually trained on your business. And I know this because I've experienced both of them firsthand. So when I first started using ChatGPT in my business, I thought it would magically fix my marketing. I imagined that I could just type in a prompt, hit enter, and a fully polished post or email or sales page would just appear ready to go. And then I quickly realized, like many of us, it just doesn't work like that. Instead, I found myself editing almost everything it gave me because it either didn't feel like me or it was just so generic or even sometimes robotic.
And before I knew it, I was actually spending just as much time rewriting content as if I would have written it from scratch myself in the first place. I also quickly realized how risky it could be to rely on generic chat GPT. I noticed it would reference research that wasn't reliable at all, like blog posts from people with no expertise, low quality or outdated studies, or in some cases, completely fabricated references. So using that kind of content could have been catastrophic, really damaging, especially as a healthcare professional. And it made me realize that actually I needed a better, safer way to use AI in my business.
So by about the beginning of last year, I kept thinking to myself, surely there's a way that I could be leveraging this tool better. Surely there's a way to train this tool so that it performs more efficiently. And I started digging into research. I started exploring everything I could find about AI and ChatGPT and Claude and Gemini and all of the tools. And that's when I discovered something really exciting. I could actually create my own custom versions of ChatGPT tailored entirely to my business.
But as well as that, I started to create custom GPTs for various different aspects of running my business. I had one for creating the assets that support this podcast, like the show notes, like the blog post that goes with it, like the social media captions. I had one for replying to voice notes that might've come through on Instagram where people were asking me about my services. And of course I had one for marketing, something that could write my emails, my blog posts, my social media captions, my sales pages, pretty much anything to do with marketing that sounded exactly like me, that knows my tone of voice, that knows my ideal client, that knows what's actually going on in my business, that knows my lead magnets, my offers, and exactly how I speak as well as how I write.
Now, before this, I was spending thousands of pounds every single month on a marketing agency. And that was a big chunk coming out of the business every month. And I'm not saying that hiring marketing experts isn't worth it. They can be incredible and add such huge value. But I just wanted to find a way of staying a bit more involved in my content, making sure that it really did resonate and sound like me, but without spending hours on it myself or handing over all the control to an agency with the ongoing high costs. And you know what? That is the beauty of building your own AI marketing assistant because lets you be hands on where you want to be whilst taking care of all the repetitive and time consuming work.
Having an AI marketing assistant built specifically for your business is like having your own brain in AI form. Mine like I think it's a safe, reliable assistant. It produces content that actually sounds like me. It meets my professional standards and the results. Well, they were incredible. And you know what? They still are. I use my AI marketing assistant every single day in my business.
And when I discovered this, suddenly I was no longer spending hours rewriting content that didn't feel like me. Instead, I had an assistant that could generate those social media posts and emails and even sales copy that sounded exactly like me. But she wasn't just saving me time, she was also having a direct impact on the results that I was seeing in my business. So my email open rates, for example, went from averaging about 44%, which is pretty good, up to 61%. And my click-through rates, they were about 1%. I've always struggled a little bit with my click-through rates and they went up to 4.18%. So having my AI marketing assistant in my business has been a total game changer. She saved me hours every week and allowed me to focus on the most important parts of running my business instead of being bogged down by content creation.
And now I want to show you how to do exactly the same, how to create your own AI marketing assistant built specifically for you and your business. So how does this work? How do you actually create your own AI marketing assistant that's completely tailored to your own business?
Well, I'm going to be doing a half day training all around this on Wednesday, the 4th of March, which I'll tell you a little bit more about, for those of you who want to roll up your sleeves and actually build your own AI marketing assistant with me step by step. But just to give you an idea of what's involved in creating your own AI, it's a lot more than just typing a prompt and hoping for the best.
Here's what we do. So we start by gathering evidence. We want samples. I'll get you to collect some of your best performing content like social media posts or emails or actually both if you've got them. The more examples the AI has, the better it can replicate your style. So we do writing examples and we also do verbal examples as well. And we call this the linguistic analysis stage because it's where the AI learns your tone of voice.
It learns your phrasing. It learns the way you explain things and communicate with your audience. Now, if you're completely starting from scratch and you don't have any content samples that we can use for this, that's absolutely fine because I've got an exercise for you that helps capture your tone of voice and your way of speaking. And we'll use the answers to those questions in that exercise to train the AI so it understands exactly how we communicate and the kind of clients that you want to attract, essentially building your voice from the ground up.
Then we set up your custom AI. So you'll create your own AI environment on a platform like ChatGPT or Claude or Gemini, whichever one you want. And I'll guide you exactly on how to set it up, including how to give it the right instructions that it needs to understand your business, as well as the boundaries that it must stay within. Now this is really, really, really important. And it's probably the main thing where people who've tried to do this before go wrong.
What I'll do is I'll show you how to create rules for specific things like scope of practice, for clinical accuracy, for how you want it to address sensitive topics. And this prevents mistakes that can happen if you rely on more generic AI tools. This is what makes your AI assistant safe and reliable because it won't create content that could put you at risk and it won't give generic advice that isn't aligned with your expertise.
The next step is to feed it all the content that it needs to really think like you. So here's where we get into the specifics of your business. So it's going to want to know about your ideal client. Who is it that you're trying to attract and you want to work with? It needs to know about your offers, what they involve, what value they provide. It needs to know how you help people.
And it also wants to know how you position yourself in your content, all of that good stuff. Now this might seem like a lot of work, but don't worry. You'll be surprised at how quickly you'll be able to whiz through all of this with the help of prompts that I'll give you and instructions I'll provide you with. And you know what? The payoff is huge because once your AI is trained, the time it saves you and the consistency it gives you will just completely change the way you run your business.
And then it's all about testing and refining. So you can experiment with different formats, tones and content angles to see what performs best. Each round of testing makes your AI smarter, faster and more aligned with your business. And the great thing about this is the more you refine it, the less time you're going to spend on content creation yourself. Your AI starts to anticipate your style and it knows your preferences. Eventually, it'll generate content that often needs very little or actually no editing.
And then once you've got your AI marketing assistant up and running, you can take it to the next level by adding in elements from Sarah AI, for example, into your own AI assistant. Now, Sarah AI of course has already been trained, not just on marketing and sales, but specifically for us as registered healthcare professionals. So this means you're giving your marketing AI the knowledge and expertise that Sarah AI has learned around writing marketing content that converts clients and structuring offers and emails and social content in a way that gets results. By layering these capabilities onto your AI tool, this is where your AI marketing assistant really starts to feel like a real life team member who gets your business.
Now I think I know what some of you might be thinking. This sounds really techie. I'm not sure I can do it. I really encourage you not to let that put you off because you absolutely do not need to be a tech wizard to do this. That actually isn't very much tech involved because it's all on one platform. There's no coding or anything a bit weird or funky like that. It's also important to remember we can't really ignore how quickly things are changing because AI is becoming part of how businesses operate worldwide. And if we don't get ahead of it, it's really easy to feel like you're falling behind. This is also a super hands-on training. So if you've got any questions along the way, or you need some support troubleshooting, I'm there I'm happy to answer them and help you through it.
Now, another worry you might have is that you don't have enough content or enough experience for an AI to actually write like you. Well, even if you've never written very much content before, your AI marketing assistant can still learn to sound like you and reflect your unique style. The key is teaching it properly from the beginning, giving it the right instructions and context and examples of how you like to speak to your audience. And you know what? Once it has that, it can start creating content that really does feel authentically you, even if you don't have lots of emails or posts yet.
So what do you think? Are you ready to do this together? Well, on Wednesday, the 4th of March, I'm running a half day hands-on training where we're going to build your very own AI marketing assistant together, step by step by step. It's called the Create Your Own AI Marketing Assistant Workshop. Great name, hey? And by the end of the session, you'll have an AI tool trained specifically on your unique business, on your voice, on your niche and your specific ideal client.
As soon as it's created, you can use it immediately for everything. Social media content, sales pages, website copy, email, newsletters, literally everything in between. And I promise this will feel nothing like the generic clunky content that you get from ChatGPT right now. This is a completely different experience to the ChatGPT that you're probably used to. It's all about leveraging AI in a way so that it really and truly understands you and your business and your specific client group. And of course the rules and regulations of our industry.
So if you join the workshop on the wait list, you will get the best possible price at just £97. There's only 12 spots available at this price. So once they're gone, they are gone. After that, the early bird price will be £197. And then the full price after that is £397. Plus everyone on the wait list will get a bonus VIP plug and play AI marketing prompt pack. This is a set of prompts that's designed to get your AI assistant to do things like write powerful social media captions, draft reels and video scripts, repurpose blog posts into social media snippets and create emails that just get you more opens and more clicks.
And here's a quick hello from my dog.
So this hands-on practical training is where we're going to roll up our sleeves. We're going to build it together. So by the end of this half day, you'll have an AI assistant that's working for your business right away. The link to join is in the show notes of this podcast episode.
